Many called Few chosen

Matthew 22:14 For many are called but few are chosen. At first it almost sounds unfair. Why would God call many but only choose a few? And what if I'm not one of those few? I'm sitting right here looking at the words bro and here's the truth. The call goes out to everyone. Every quiet nudge you get in your conscience to change and to repent and to love more deeply that's the call. But being chosen isn't about God playing favorites. It's about are we going to respond or not. The chosen are the ones that respond. Christ says this in the context of a wedding feast. Everyone is invited but not everyone shows up ready. Some ignore the invitation others show up but refuse to change. In orthodox Christianity we call this synergy. God reaches out. Grace opens the door but love never forces its way in. Love is a choice. He won't drag us there against our will. So the question isn't am I called. You are. The real question is what am I going to do with the invitation. How am I going to respond. Am I answering it or am I just hearing in one ear and it just goes out the other.
