Why are you still here?

Think about this. If desire never moves into seeking is it really desire or merely curiosity? Because it is only as I seek the object of my desire that I'll actually obtain it. Let me explain. David says in Psalm 27, "One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple." So this leaves the question. How do I seek more of God? Well let me give you four practicals that will help ignite hunger in you for more of God.
Number 1: Prayer. Establish a rhythm of prayer in your daily life. Jesus says this in Matthew 6:6 about prayer, "Go into the secret place, close the door seek your father who sees in secret and he will reward you. And the greatest reward that God can give you is more of Himself. The ultimate reward of prayer is God being made manifest in your life. See the secret place is where fire is ignited where hunger is cultivated that sacred space of covenant intimacy between bride and Bridegroom.
Number two: Ask for more hunger. Let me give you an incredibly lethal prayer that'll serve a death blow to apathetic Christianity: "God I want to want you more." If your life is full, don't feel guilty about it. Just make room for God. Here is something practical that you can do this week to create space for God. Remove one noisy thing from your life; one app, one show, one nightly habit, one block of time that's occupied with fruitless distraction. Those things aren't evil there just loud and hunger needs space to grow.
Number Four: Obey what God has already asked you to do. Nothing kills hunger like delayed obedience. If God has already told you to forgive, repent, confess, make that phone call, lay down that habit, you don't need a confirmation. Just step out in faith and obey what He's already asked you to do.
And here's a bonus for you. If you want to stir hunger in your life for more of God, commit to a local church family. Isolation man I'm telling you, it's the devil's playground. It's hard to receive the life-giving flow of blood and oxygen when you're not connected to the body. I promise when you connect to a local church family hunger for God will explode in you.
So don't just be curious about what it would be like to have more of the reality of God in your life. Seek him with your whole heart. After all, the promise of Scripture says we will find him when we seek him with our whole heart.
